In addition to the National Mencap charity, there are over 400 independent organisations in communities across the UK that are affiliated to National Mencap.  They respond to the local needs of people with a learning disability living in their area. One hundred and sixty-seven of these groups share the name as local Mencap groups;  all share the Mencap ancestry, as well as their  vision and values, whilst operating as independent charities with their own governance and strategy. Chepstow Mencap is one of these  independent charities that is affiliated to, but not funded by, National Mencap.  We work to reinforce their vision – that people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.

We are independent of national Mencap and are completely unfunded by them.
